This is another still life inspired by the paintings of Willem Kalf (1619-1693). Kalf was the creator of the Pronkstilleven or Ostentatious Still Life. His paintings displayed rare and expensive objects owned by the wealthy in XVII century Holland.

I grew up admiring classic paintings, specially the Renaissance and the Dutch Golden Age periods.There is one particular feature of Dutch Golden Age paintings that led me to believe that I could try to reproduce them. Their level of detail is unparalleled in painting history, they look like photographs. Some are so detailed, that they can trick you into the removal of an ant or to scare away a fly.
