The composition in this photo has been inspired by one of Abraham van Beyeren (van Beijeren) most famous paintings in display at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
I did not have a buckelpokal, therefore I used a large roemer in substitution. The extinguished candle follows the symbolism of the great masters. Life is short and extinguishes, the possession of earthly riches is temporary. The decaying roses adds the message that beauty is also temporary.
