Catharine Bolnes, Vermeer wife has found a letter on the table next to the wan-li bowl with apples and peaches. The letter has been addressed of one of her older daughters. She is reading the letter in stupor as she found out that her daughter has an admirer and she hasn't tell her. Is she preparing to elope, like she did with Johannes?
