This image reflects some of the composition techniques used by Willem Claesz Heda and contemporary painter Pietr Claesz. they were both known for his Ontbijt or breakfast pieces. They painted the typical wealthy Dutch breakfast of their times which included wine or champagne. These masters included several surface textures and colors to demonstrate their skills. They often painted the reflections of the objects on some other objects as in this photo. (see the Ming plate reflection on the tea pot)

I grew up admiring classic paintings, specially the Renaissance and the Dutch Golden Age periods.There is one particular feature of Dutch Golden Age paintings that led me to believe that I could try to reproduce them.
